Corporate Rock Benefits United Way
It was a close race in the Battle of the Corporate Bands competition for United Way, held on Friday, Sept. 1, at Mississippi Nights in downtown St. Louis.
Featuring rock ’n’ roll from four of St. Louis’ premier corporate bands, the show prelaunched United Way of Greater St. Louis’ 2006 campaign, which began on Sept.r 6. The bands participating were the AT&T All-Stars, Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s e-Rockers, Express Scripts’ Expressions, and Fleishman-Hillard’s Pro Bono & the Non-Billables.
“This was a great way to do something good for the community and have big fun at the same time,” said e-Rockers
bassist Tom Braun of Florissant, a Solutions Architect at Enterprise.
From lights to smoke to giant white rabbits, the bands each played a crowd-pleasing 45-minute set to which the crowd responded by dancing and donating to their favorite band.
At the end of the night, the band that raised the most money for the event was declared the winner.
However, the real winners of this event are the 200 agencies and the millions of people in the region who benefit from United Way funding.
Thanks to Mississippi Nights (which donated the venue), the people who came out and cheered on the bands, the companies that support the bands, and the members of the bands who donated their time and talents, United Way of Greater St. Louis was able to rasie $3,643 from the event.
AT&T All Stars - $992.50
Enterprise Rent-A-Car e-Rockers - $960.50
Fleishman-Hillard Pro Bono & the Non-Billables - $956.50
